Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at this! Bloodcrossed is a dark supernatural fantasy about what survival costs, and who ends up paying the debt.

It begins in our world, where Estella Durant and her best friend Liliya arrive in a desert facility that feeds on people in ways no one can explain. Around them, the impossible keeps happening: doors that weren’t there before, guards who move wrong, and something deeper than the ‘opportunity’ this facility is presented as. She builds a fragile family among the other prisoners, and together they try to escape. The escape leads them to the Solpyre Colonies, a hidden land where the society is fracturing. There she learns the truth about why she was brought there: she was meant to be a sacrifice.

Estella refuses to be a sacrifice. Instead she chooses the Bloodcrossing, an ancient ritual that permanently binds her soul to Théo, a complicated love interest she meets at the facility that isn’t a perfect love story in the typical romantasy style.

They will share power, pain, and fate, and neither can hide from the other. It is the story’s greatest act of love, and it may also be its most dangerous.

I wanted to write something that avoids the usual “chosen one wins” arc. This story is about complicity, about the friendships that break under pressure, and about leaders who are punished for their mercy. As one of its characters says, “the greatest acts of love often look like cruelty to those who don’t understand the stakes.”

The three excerpts I’ve included show three sides of the book:

  1. The prelude: Estella’s voice at the end of her story, looking back at what it cost.

  2. A facility interlude: Liliya, a survivor slowly losing time and control, walking into a room she was never meant to find.

  3. The Solpyre Colonies: Ambroise and Théo, where power, love, and cruelty are hard to tell apart.
